Eric Maurice Clark

Eric Maurice Clark is a gospel music historian and cultural preservationist committed to documenting Black history through the traditions and legacy of the Black church. As the founder of Gospel Diaries, he captures the voices and stories of gospel artists across generations, preserving a rich musical and spiritual heritage.
Eric began his journey at just 13 years old in 1997 with his Chicago-based television show Let’s Talk About Music, which ran for over a decade and highlighted local musicians and gospel culture. By age 17, he was deeply engaged in researching gospel music, building lasting relationships within the community while working in record shops as a trusted expert.
In 2020, Eric launched a coffee table magazine dedicated to gospel music and its cultural impact. He expanded that vision in 2022 with Gospel Diaries, a growing interview platform featuring voices from pioneers to contemporary artists.
Eric holds an honorary Doctorate in Sacred Music from Wayland Baptist Theological Seminary. Through his work, he remains dedicated to preserving, honoring, and sharing the legacy of gospel music for future generations.
